The County government of Bungoma has commenced a multi-million water project in Mayekwe village of Sirisia constituency. According to the contractor the project will take a couple of months to be completed at a cost of Ksh 72 million.
Speaking to the media after officially launching the project, Mayekwe residents expressed their joy saying they have suffered enough and the project will be a big relief to them. “We thank God that finally our prayers have been answered.We’ve passed through a lot, searching for water especially during the dry season, and it’s our hope that things will change after the completion,” said John Sande, one of the residents.
Adding his voice, Lwandanyi Ward MCA Mr. Tony Baraza said there are three other borehole projects that were fully funded by a well-wisher will be launched soon at Tamlega, Kibindoi and Tulienge. He added that through the County government community empowerment fund he has managed to put up several bodaboda shades at Malakisi, Tamlega and Katomei markets to help the riders during rainy and sunny seasons.
Moreover, he urged Ford Kenya leaders to end wrangles in the party through the tribunal and concentrate on service delivery to the people of Bungoma County. “I want to appeal to Ford Kenya leadership to kindly stop this party war, the people of Bungoma need development,” he said.
He warned some people who are allegedly masquerading as grass root Ford Kenya party officials moving from house to house in his ward, misleading people that they are collecting signatures for the removal and impeachment of Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula from his position.
