The Bungoma County government has been stirred up to proceed with earmarked road project in Tongaren sub county, given the poor state of some roads in the area, and in Bungoma County as a whole. Activist Zack Barasa has been on the forefront of the push to ensure Governor Wangamati fulfills the road renovation project, which had come under close scrutiny. It was alleged by some that Tongaren sub county had been sidelined by the County administration, an issue which may have cast shadows on the Governor’s ambitions come 2022.
Speaking during the launch of the road’s renovation in Tongaren, Mbakalo MCA Bethwel Mwambu said he is ready to work under a leader who sets out projects that benefit residents, adding that it’s vital for Tongaren residents to get access to good infrastructure, rather than relying on unfulfilled political promises.
The complaints against the County administration have also revolved around the incomplete Musikoma-Kanduyi dual carriage way, that saw businesses demolished to pave the way for its construction. Furthermore, it comes after Governor Wangamati’s convoy was stuck on a muddy road in Mt. Elgon region, forcing the leadership to seek assistance to free the vehicles from the muddy road, during a tour to the region. The picture of the Governor’s motorcade stuck circulated on social media, drawing irked reactions.
