The County government of Bungoma has launched a multi-million water project in Namutokholo village of Sirisia constituency.
Speaking at Namutokholo primary school during the official launching of the project, Chief Officer in the Ministry of water and Sanitation in Bungoma County Engineer Rosalia Soita said the project will take a couple of weeks to be completed.
Ms. Soita added that after completion of the project they will also expand Chesikaki-Sirisia water project by building giant tanks that store water to ensure Sirisia people get enough clean water.
“We have a plan of expanding Chesikaki water project after finishing this one, we want our people to have access to clean water in this sub-county,” said Rosalia.
Accompanying her, the CEC Public administration Mr. Sabwami Keya thanked Bungoma County government for the project, saying it will be helpful to the people of Namutokholo and the entire community.
The residents of Namutokholo village expressed their joy saying they have suffered a lot and the project will be a big relief to them.
“We thank the County government for remembering us, we’ve been travelling for more than three kilometers searching for water especially during dry season, many marriages have collapsed due to quarrels because our women take most of their time on long queues to get water, ” said Brown Bufuke one of the residents.
