The security department in Bungoma County has been urged to ensure the residents’ well-being is safeguarded as we head towards the general election in August. This was stated by the Deputy Headteacher for Bungoma DEB Primary School Mr. Joseph Mumaraki who said that security has been poor and some pupils are being attacked brutally on the way to school.
“Security in Bungoma town is really poor. Therefore, I urge the department concerned to assure us of our security,” said Mr. Mumaraki. “We are living in fear because our pupils are being attacked in the morning while coming to school. So we suggest that the security department in the County should identify areas that are insecure and assign security personnel who will help to curb insecurity,” he added.
Mr. Mumaraki cited a case where a Standard Eight pupil from Bungoma DEB was attacked by an unknown person and she was left unconscious in Bungoma when she was on her way to school in the morning.
“One of our Standard Eight pupils was attacked along Railways route when she was coming to school in the morning. She was stabbed severally and left injured by an unknown person, I condemn such an act,” said Mr. Mumaraki.
