UDA Party members in Bungoma County have begun early preparations for the upcoming grassroots elections; set to take place on 11th April 2025. Several hopefuls have already declared their interest in serving in various leadership positions, signaling a heightened level of enthusiasm as the party looks to strengthen its presence ahead of the next general elections.
Speaking at the party’s headquarters in Bungoma, Winston Wangamati, the County Administrator for the UDA Party, emphasized that the party remains firmly rooted on the ground. After a consultative meeting with members, Wangamati assured attendees that the upcoming grassroots election will bolster the party’s strength and improve its overall structure.
“We are confident that the party is still strong in the region. This exercise will help solidify our position as we aim for greater success in future elections. We are asking our members to brace themselves for the upcoming election by identifying and nurturing leaders who can steer the party towards success,” Wangamati said.
The County Administrator stressed the importance of laying down robust structures in preparation for the 2027 elections, noting that these measures will ensure UDA has a strong, organized force ready to secure multiple seats across Bungoma County.

Julius Masinde, an aspirant for the Kanduyi Constituency chairmanship, expressed optimism about the party’s future. He believes that with the right leadership and a unified approach, UDA can regain its glory and position itself for greater influence in the county. Masinde highlighted the party’s growing base, including active youth and women leagues, which he believes will play a crucial role in the party’s success saying the President being the leader of the party should consider sponsoring development projects for them.
However, he called for a free and fair process during the grassroots election saying the party deserves leaders who are committed to taking leadership to the next level.
In her remarks, Roselinda Simiyu, another key party member, assured the public that no effort would be spared in ensuring a smooth and transparent election process. “We are leaving no stone unturned to make sure that the grassroots elections are fair and efficient. It is crucial that we maintain the legacy of our national party, and we are committed to upholding these values during this election,” Simiyu said.
