In a significant move towards youth empowerment, Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has announced the successful passage of the county’s highly anticipated Youth Policy through the County Assembly. The policy, crafted by the County Executive, is now set for supplementary approval and implementation.
Speaking during the International Youth Day celebrations at Kibabii University, Governor Lusaka emphasized the pivotal role the Youth Policy will play in ensuring that young people in Bungoma have a stronger voice in county governance. He described the policy as a cornerstone in the county’s efforts to incorporate youth perspectives into decision-making processes that will shape their future.
“The Youth Policy will serve as a cornerstone in ensuring that the voices of our young people are heard and considered in the governance of our county,” Lusaka remarked, highlighting the policy’s potential to create more inclusive governance structures.
In a bid to streamline and prioritize youth affairs, the Governor announced the creation of the Bungoma County Youth Directorate. The administration has already advertised the position of Youth Director, who will oversee the coordination of youth-related issues across the county.
Governor Lusaka also encouraged young residents to take advantage of the Ajira Digital platforms, which have been established in all nine constituencies. These platforms aim to equip the youth with essential digital skills, opening doors to numerous online job opportunities.
With the Youth Policy on the brink of implementation, Bungoma County is set to become a beacon of youth empowerment, ensuring that the next generation plays a central role in the county’s future.
