The Bungoma County Men and Ladies Volleyball teams will seek to redeem themselves in the 2019 volleyball season after failing to flourish in last season’s league due to inconsistency. After the playoffs at Kasarani, Nairobi, late last year the County sponsored teams have been training hard at the Airport field in Bungoma Town striving to do well in a combined league and tournament phenomenon that starts on 8th March to 10th March 2019.
Speaking to West Media during the training session on Tuesday, the team manager, Vitalis Kongani reiterated that they are waiting for the final confirmation of their expedition to Kitale from their sponsors. “We are currently fit and more psyched for both the league and
tournament in Kitale next week. We are only waiting for the confirmation from our sponsors who have been supporting us all along,” said Kongani.
The team is sponsored by the County government of Bungoma through the Ministry of Sports and Gender. In the men’s category, the team is set to play against Mombasa Prisons in
their first match before battling it out against Nairobi Prisons on Friday 8th March 2019.
In the ladies bracket, the queens of Bungoma County are set to play Kenya Commercial Bank KCB before entertaining the Kenya Army team from Nairobi on Friday 8th March 2019. The teams are anticipated to leave for Kitale on 7th March 2019 for the three days tournament.
