Bungoma Deputy Governor Janepher Mbatiany has assured residents of total commitment by Governor Lusaka’s administration in implementing all development projects in line with their manifesto.
Speaking in Milima Ward, Tongaren Constituency, during a Thanksgiving Ceremony of area MCA Hon. Jerusa Aleu Sikuku, Mbatiany dismissed critics saying their campaign pledges are still intact and that Governor Lusaka has already started implementing them.
“We are on track, up and working. Some of the projects are on course and others are already scaling up. We have advertised some roads and the contractors will be on site from next week and more roads will be advertised next week on Monday,” stated Mbatiany.
On the alleged feud between the Executive and Members of the County Assembly, Mbatiany affirmed that legislators are only doing their oversight role of putting the County Government of Bungoma in check to enhance service delivery to residents.
“There is no war between the Bungoma County Executive and the County Assembly. They have a constitutional duty to keep us on toes for effective service delivery to the people. Let them keep us in check”, she said.
She also assured parents and beneficiaries of the Scholarship programme especially poor and needy cases to apply , noting that the exercise will be free and fair and only those befitting the criteria will be awarded.
“I agree with our MCAs on the Scholarship issue. All of us are reading from the same script. Only poor and needy students should benefit,” she added.
Members of Parliament; Hon. Chikati Murumba (Tongaren), Hon.Didmus Barasa (Kimilili), Hon.Martin Pepela (Webuye East), Bungoma County Assembly Speaker, Hon.Emmanuel Situma, Bungoma County Assembly Majority Leader Hon.Joseph Nyongesa and a section of MCAs were also present at the function.
