A section of Ford Kenya MCAs from Bungoma County Assembly camped in Lwandanyi Ward, in Sirisia Constituency and Bumula Ward, in Bumula Constituency to throw their weight behind Deputy President’s bid to take the top seat.
The MCAs led by majority leader in the Assembly who is also a Tuuti- Marakaru ward MCA, Joseph Nyongesa urged Bungoma County residents to choose leaders wisely in the coming election so as to revive the country’s economy that is on its knees.
“If you want to be part of good leadership then you have the responsibility to choose people with development record, don’t be enticed by their money and sweet words but assess them,” Nyongesa said.
Nyongesa also faulted Governor Wangamati’s leadership alleging that it has failed Bungoma people development-wise.
“Bungoma County used to receive Ksh 6.7 billion annually in the first government and the people realized development, but as we speak now our County receives double amount and we are seeing less.” He said.
Lwandanyi Ward MCA Tony Barasa who was the host urged the national government to reduce taxes on important commodities especially petroleum, fertilizer and cooking oil to salvage the poor Kenyans.
His sentiments were echoed by Deputy Majority leader Elizabeth Tindi, Chwele Kabuchai Ward MCA Barasa Mukhongo, Mukuyuni Ward MCA MeshaCk Museven, Khalaba Ward MCA Majimbo Okumu and Cheptais Ward Jane Chebet who said the common man has been completely crippled by the harsh economy.
They urged the residents to change the country’s leadership by electing Dr. Willam Ruto saying he will help them through his Bottom-Up approach strategy.
