Former Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga has been boosted in his bid to vie for Bungoma County Senatorial seat after his fellow competitor of Federal Party of Kenya Jacob Machacha Machembe stepped aside and threw his support to Mwambu.
Addressing his supporters across Bungoma County in his home in Maraka ward, Webuye East Constituency, Machacha revealed that after he did his research on a suitable candidate for the Senatorial seat and found out that Mwambu is ideal, he opted to step aside and support him.
Machacha urged Bungoma residents to make their decisions of electing a leader who will represent them and avoid a project of certain leaders from the County who he said has no capacity to lead them.
Mwambu thanked him for the bold step he made towards bowing out of the race and thought of walking with him in the journey to win the Senatorial seat. He however, urged Bungoma County residents to elect a leader who is capable of fighting for their rights, who can protect their resources and oversight the County government and ensure that all funds from the national treasury is used for the benefit of common mwananchi.
The Senate seat in Bungoma County became vacant after Moses Wetangula who won in the August polls resigned and was elected as the Speaker of the National Assembly.
Other politicians who are eyeing the seat include; Wetangula’s long time aide Wafula Wakoli, Robert Sifuna, Raidon Munoko among others.
The Bungoma Senatorial seat by-election is slated for 8th December 2022.
