The Bungoma County government through the Health Ministry has launched the construction of a maternity wing at Lurare dispensary, located in Maraka ward, Webuye East constituency, set to cost Kshs 2 million. Addressing staff and residents at Lurare, the Health CEC Anthony Walela said the maternity wing will help mothers, given that in the past they’ve had to travel long distances to Webuye Sub County hospital to get health services.
He said they are impressed by the management of the facility and that as a government, they’ve put measures in place to ensure payments are done on time and assured the contractor of the same. He was accompanied by the Chief officer Mr. Patrick Wandili who warned the contractor against doing a shoddy job, as the payments won’t be approved until the project is approved by the Public Works office and the residents. Together with the Bungoma Health CEC Walela, they said the maternity wing will be well equipped, and added that twenty lab technicians will be stationed in facilities across the County.
The area MCA Ali Majani Mutoka urged the contractor to employ the youths from the area but cautioned those who’ll get the opportunity to work well and be disciplined. He said the maternity wing will provide employment opportunities as extra vacancies apart form the medical staff will be open. The contractor assured the residents that the project will be done and dusted at the end of this month.
