Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati on Tuesday failed to show up at the Bungoma County assembly to face the Public administration committee regarding the advertised employment of over two hundred village administrators.
Led by its chairman, Khalaba ward MCA Majimbo Okumu, the visibly irritated committee expressed their dissatisfaction over the failure by the County boss to appear, with reasons penned by the county secretary in a letter that they don’t have powers to summon the Governor.
Hon Majimbo said article 195 of the constitution gives them powers to summon any public officer to shed light on any matter that they may be interested in saying he contravened the law.
He added that the Governor has contravened the provisions of article two and three by failing to appear before the committee saying they will be able to tell their next cause of action after consulting.
His sentiments were echoed by the majority leader in the assembly Joseph Juma Nyongesa who said their spirits are high and as representatives of the people they will be able to act in accordance with what the law entails.
