Bungoma County Governor Kenneth Lusaka has called on all aspirants in the County to maintain peace, to avoid a repeat of what happened when his supporters and those of Wycliffe Wangamati clashed. “I would rather not be a Governor, than watch my people die. Elections will come and go but we shall remain,” he said, “Am appealing to my opponents and all politicians to restrain their supporters and preach peace.”
Governor Lusaka said he has done a good job for the time he has been in office so far, citing roads connectivity, bursaries distribution, among other projects. He said they’ve also helped farmers, given that they can supply farm inputs to farmers across the County.
Furthermore, he told Misikhu residents that the hospital construction which was promised by Deputy President William Ruto some time ago has been delayed due to a procurement process, but he assured them that the construction will begin soon and he’ll make a follow-up.
He castigated Ford Kenya party for being self-centred and lacking diversity in their leadership structure, “Bungoma leadership must be shared across the County. In the last general elections, we saw the Bungoma Governor came from Kimilili, the Senator from Kabuchai, and the Woman Representative came from Tongaren. Yet in Ford Kenya, all County top seats have aspirants from the same region, in Kabuchai Constituency” he said, adding that the County can’t be well represented and the move isn’t aligned with the spirit of devolution.
His sentiments were echoed by jubilee aspirant Juma Mukhwana who accused Senator Wetangula of lacking a definite stand on his political path after settling for the Senatorial post after declaring his Presidential ambitions.
