The management of Bungoma Life Care hospital has waived a more than Kshs 100,000 bill incurred after the late comedian John Masinde alias John Gift was admitted at the facility in the intensive care unit but unfortunately passed away.
According to the hospital medical superintendent Dr. Victor Ng’ani, they granted the request from the family as well as other members of the society saying the late was from a humble background and could not manage to raise the amount required.
He said as a hospital after the late John gift was brought to the facility, they did all they could in their capacity to save his life saying the ICU unit is one of a kind in the County.
However, members of the public led by Wafula Wakoli called upon the County government together with the national government to consider equipping public hospitals with the necessary equipment that will be affordable to ordinary Kenyans incase they get admitted.
The late John Gift who hailed from Mbakalo in Tongaren constituency, Bungoma County was a student pursuing a degree course at the University of Eldoret.
His shocking death has led to great mourning by many residents including elected leaders in the County who have also called for an intensive probe to be carried out on the death.
