Students at Bungoma National Polytechnic have received a major boost in their educational journey, thanks to the generous donation of Wi-Fi services by well-wisher Wesley Wepukhulu. The installation aims to support students, particularly in research and accessing online job opportunities, marking a significant milestone for the institution.
The initiative was praised by Patrick Owuor, the Deputy Principal for Administration and Finance, who acknowledged that the Wi-Fi service would enhance the learning experience. He highlighted that many students are engaged in courses that require extensive online research, and this new service will meet their growing needs.
“The robust infrastructure at the polytechnic, combined with this new Wi-Fi, will make educational activities more accessible and convenient for our students,” Owuor said. He also expressed the institution’s openness to future collaborations with other well-wishers, reinforcing their commitment to enhancing the prosperity of the polytechnic.
Echoing this sentiment, Hannington Situma, the Dean of Students, emphasized that the Wi-Fi installation is a step toward achieving digitalization within the polytechnic, making online research and browsing easier for all students.
Dan Fwamba, the Students’ President, shared that access to Wi-Fi was one of his key manifesto promises. He praised the timing of the donation, as it aligns perfectly with students’ needs and expectations.
Veronica Ajode, a student of Applied Science, expressed her relief, saying that many students had struggled to afford internet bundles for research. “This installation is truly a blessing. Now, accessing online resources will no longer be a challenge for most of us,” she said.
On behalf of the well-wisher, Dennis Baraka explained that the decision to install the Wi-Fi came after recognizing the growing role of the internet in education and work in the 21st century. “This will not only ease students’ academic activities but also open doors for them to explore online work opportunities, empowering them to be self-employed after their coursework,” he said.
Simiyu Wakajuanes, another representative of the well-wisher, affirmed that this gesture was just the beginning. “Wesley Wepukhulu is committed to supporting more educational programs, providing the youth with opportunities to harness digital tools and skills for their future success,” Wakajuanes stated.
