The county of Bungoma will play host to the national celebrations of Madaraka Day on the 1st of June, and is continuing to undergo a transformation due to the preparations for this national event.
With just a few weeks left until the 1st of June, the day of the Madaraka celebrations to be held at Masinde Muliro Stadium in Kanduyi, the town of Bungoma is benefiting from these preparations, especially through the improvement of its infrastructure and overall appearance.

The construction of the State Lodge in the Milimani area of Bungoma town is nearing completion, while essential roads surrounding this area and Kanduyi Airstrip are undergoing renovations. This renovation work has changed the face of this area significantly.

On the dual-carriage from Kanduyi to Musikoma, contractors are finishing up construction, with various types of flowers being planted, and the popular street lights already shining brightly at night along this road and other parts of the town. Additionally, the Chebkube market has also been improved, with traders being relocated indoors contrary to their previous positions along the roadside.

Property owners and business owners both within and outside this town are also continuing to renovate and paint their buildings in efforts to give Bungoma town an attractive outlook, especially as the countdown to the national celebrations of Madaraka Day approaches.
In Matulo ward, Webuye West Constituency the last touches on construction of Matulo Airstrip is ongoing for this will help in;
- Accessibility: The airstrip will provide easier access to the area, especially for individuals and businesses that rely on air travel. It will attract tourists, investors, and businesses looking to establish operations in the region.
- Economic Development: The airstrip will stimulate economic growth by facilitating trade, tourism, and investment. Will also serve as a hub for cargo transportation, bringing in goods and supplies and exporting local products to other markets.
- Emergency Services: It will be crucial for emergency medical evacuations, disaster relief efforts, and firefighting operations. It will provide a means for quick transportation of personnel, equipment, and supplies to affected areas.
