It was all jubilation as Bungoma West Hospital celebrated the achievement of their ISO 15189 certification to their laboratory.
The event, which took place at the hospital’s conference hall in Kanduyi, saw the Hospital management and staff have a rare glimpse of the coveted document that was awarded to them in July this year.
Speaking during the event, the Hospital CEO Dr. Jacob Wanyama expressed his joy for marking such a wonderful milestone in the medical industry.
“I’m happy to be associated with this magnanimous achievement to not only be a third accredited laboratory in Bungoma County but also the first private laboratory in the County to attain ISO 15189 certification,” he said.
The CEO hailed the staff for their tremendous work, saying that the certification is a reward for their competence.
“The award of this certificate means that our laboratory has met all the requirements as stipulated in the standards, hence this shows that our laboratory officers are competent and the results produced in our lab are of high quality and meet international standards,” he said.
Laboratory director Delia Wanyama too applauded the staff and the management for the achievement, challenging other departments to emulate the feted unit.
“My hope is that all staff will now emulate this relentless service and persistence to significantly improve health services delivery as required by the ISO standards,” said Delia.
Bungoma West Hospital became the third health facility in Bungoma County to acquire the ISO 15189 certification after the Webuye and the Bungoma County Referral Hospitals.
The ISO certification is a standard requirement for competence and quality of a laboratory.
This comes at a time when organisations are celebrating the Happy Customers Week, a week set aside to appreciate customers.
