Bungoma West Sub County Security team has launched a special committee that will spearhead a peace mission ahead of August General Elections.
The election preparedness committee comprising of stake holders from different sectors led by Bungoma West Deputy County Commissioner, was officially launched to curb political violence that may arise especially during this electioneering period.
Speaking in Sirisia after a consultative meeting with the committee, Bungoma West DCC Mr. Henry Katana applauded the initiative saying it will help to shun political leaders with inflammatory tongues.
“I want to thank everyone who has turned up for this noble course, and I know together as a team we will ensure Sirisia Constituency is peaceful before, during and after General Elections,” Mr. Katana said.
He added that every committee member will reach out to a number of people in the society to ensure a message of peace is spread in the entire Constituency.
The administrator also pleaded with the residents to be more vigilant and avoid being used by selfish political leaders who aim to gain mileage by causing violence.
Several leaders including the clergy, IEBC officials, security team, business community, the media among other stake holders who were in attendance and promised to support the initiative to make Sirisia a better place.
