Women in Bungoma County have been called upon to form groups so as to access money from the affirmative action fund to start up development projects. Speaking after giving out posho mills to different groups across the County, Bungoma County woman representative Catherine Wambilianga says that women will benefit greatly through the groups.
She added that many groups have already benefitted and more who have submitted their proposals will soon be benefiting as soon as the money will be disbursed. The Bungoma woman representative added that her office will be offering grants to the groups as opposed to loans saying it is advantageous to them as they will not be followed up to pay up the loans but rather the profits will be shared by among themselves.
Her sentiments were echoed by her manager Moses Nabibia who said they are focused on uplifting the lives of the women in the County saying they should work hard so as to achieve more. Some of the beneficiaries applauded the efforts of the woman representative saying they have been empowered.
