Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has said the burden carried by Kenyans that needs to be alleviated is caused by corruption and not in the governance system as proposed by Third way Alliance leader Dr. Ekuru Aukot. Speaking in Endebess, the Ford Kenya leader said graft has led to loss of funds and indicated that it’s still the main problem facing Kenya. He reiterated his full support for the anti graft push led by President Uhuru Kenyatta. “Every year ion the government’s budget, 30% is stolen, meaning out of Kshs 3.2 trillion, Kshs 1 trillion is stolen,” he said.
He said the government should do all they can to tackle the menace, “Dr. Aukot should be told that the Kenyan’s burden isn’t in parliament but it’s in corruption,” he said. The Punguza Mizigo Bill has faced its fair share of opposition recently, with leaders seeking to side step it. Former premier Raila Odinga last week slammed the initiative, terming it ‘Punguza Gunia’. He said Kenyans should wait for recommendations from the Building Bridges Initiative and afterwards the Kenyans will decide if a referendum will be the way to go or not.
