Former Budalangi MP Raphael Wanjala’s defection to ODM is a big plus to the Orange Party, the County Youth League chairman Engineer James Anyango has said.
While ddressing the press in Busia, Eng. Anyango said Wanjala’s defection from Jubilee was a pointer that JP was losing clout among Kenyans.
“We are assuring Wanjala of our support and to other candidates who will seek nomination on an ODM ticket we assure them that the exercise will be free and fair. The Party Leader Raila Odinga has already given assurance to all candidates of a level playing field in the nominations. That is the position of the party contrary to others who think otherwise,” he said.
He dismissed propaganda making rounds that the ODM will use the party primaries as a campaign tool and to ‘handpick their cronies.’
“Nobody has a certificate or will be favoured during party primaries. The party will not accept a repeat of 2012 primaries which saw it lose many seats that it would not have,” he said.
With IEBC Mass Voter Registration now over, Anyango said the party’s focus was now on registration of members who will participate in the party primaries.
He said NASA unity is a done deal and wondered why Jubilee have started panicking and spreading false reports that NASA affiliate parties might not agree on one candidate.
