Busia Women representative Florence Mutua and Teso South MP aspirant Geoffrey Omuse are confident they’ll win their respective seats in the August 8th elections after registering impressive wins in the ODM Primaries.
Mutua won by a landslide after registering 72,664 votes, beating her closest challenger Winnie Oyugi by over 50,000 vote margin.
Omuse made a dream start in his political career when he scooped 17,055 votes compared to his opponent Jeff Osiba, who emerged second with 6754 votes.
Addressing the press in Busia after receiving her interim certificate from the County Election Board, Mutua congratulated all aspirants for conducting their campaigns in a peaceful manner.
She said the ODM people have spoken and thanked voters for the overwhelming support. “The big win is not mine but for the Busia people,” she said, adding that ODM is the party of choice.
Omuse also took the opportunity to thank the people of Teso South for the landslide win and promised to double the figure in the August 8th, 2017 polls.
“I am prepared to face the incumbent and secure the seat that eluded Orange House in the 2013 general elections,” he said.
In Teso North Constituency, an ICT Expert Lawi Mamai was declared the winner after garnering 7943 votes. He beat George Okwara to second place by over 4,000 votes.
Former Budalangi MP Raphael Wanjala secured an ODM ticket to face incumbent Ababu Namwamba when he took the first position with 3765. Andrew Nakitare took the second position with 3276 votes.
Matayos MP Geoffrey Odanga will be in the ballot after securing the ODM ticket. He scooped 10,250 votes while James Wamono was second with 3210 votes.
Geoffrey Mulanya won the right to carry ODM flag in Nambale beating Kizito Namulanda into second place.
