Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has urged the Busia County government to be extra vigilant after the County recorded 7 Covid-19 cases in 24 hours between Thursday and Friday. Before that, the County had 5 cases, at the points of entry. The new cases are in Teso South (4), Teso North(2) and Matayos (1).
CS Kagwe said authorities should be extra careful since it’s a border County and lots of truck drivers are there. “On our part as the Ministry of Health we’ll take all measures possible and necessary to support Busia County so that the figures in Busia do not continue to grow,” he said.
He affirmed that all truck drivers now have to be tested 48 hours before they get to the border. Border entry points have been identified as hotspots for the spread of the Coronavirus, with cases being reported along the Kenya-Tanzania border, Kenya-Somalia border and Kenya-Uganda border points.
