The Malaba-Kocholia Water project has received a major boost from World Vision Angurai ADP Program which has pledged to help Busia Water and Sewerage Company to expand water coverage in Angurai Division, Teso North.
The deal was sealed following a meeting attended by County Executive Committee Member for Water, Environment and Natural Resources Bernard Yaite with WV officials in Angurai.
The meeting that was also attended by County Water Director Joseph Olubero and Sub County water officer Boniface Fibanda tackled challenges the water supply has faced.
World Vision official in charge of WASH and construction projects Engineer Benjamin Boigor said they have extended water distribution points by 7.6km from Angurai Market to Aedemoru with the construction of five water kiosks.
Engineer Boigor said this was in addition to 12.3km with nine water kiosks covering Changara market and primary school, Osia market and Albert Ekirapa Secondary School, adding that WV has spent about Sh60m in the water project in the area. It also entailed installation of pumps and solar lights.
“We have also committed to assisting BUWASCO in repairing the existing network that has been damaged,” said Boigor. Yaite called on the contractor working on Malaba- Lwakhakha road to avoid damaging water service lines.
