A Busia pastor will lead a group of 10 youth volunteers for a 500-kilometer run-walk relay Race from Busia to Nairobi to raise Kshs. 10 million for the construction of Mayenje Skills and Talent Development Centre (MASTADEC).
Pastor Richard Walekhwa of the Holy Redeemed Apostolic Ministries International said the five-day run-walk race whose slogan is “A shilling for a kilometer” is part of the efforts to raise awareness about the plight of the youth and to raise funds to finance the activities of the project.
Pastor Walekhwa said the sponsorship has been categorized in various groups, which include platinum, golden, silver and bronze. Platinum sponsor will pay Sh1, 000 per kilometre, golden sponsors Kshs. 500 per km, silver Kshs. 100 and bronze Kshs. 100 per km.
He said an account for those who intend to contribute to the kitty has been opened at Family Bank Busia Branch, with account number 079000030949, adding that the STRIDES4MASTADEC Fundraiser M-Pesa bill number is 891300 and Account Number is 7945 with no sending charges.
He said the M-Changa to raise funds for STRIDES4MASTADEC is also available on Equitel, Pay pal and Simba Pay using credit cards.
MASTADEC, a project of Mukiwa Self Help Group is a youth empowerment project that aims to allow the idle youth to showcase their skills and talents which are then harnessed, nurtured and developed to help them be economically independent. The centre will focus on ICT, Music, sports and game, photography and videography and agribusiness.
