ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi has urged Kenyans to avoid making by-elections proxy battles of political party leaders. This comes even after the ANC party gave a direct ticket to Eliud Owalo to contest the Kibra by-election. Owalo was an adviser to former ODM leader Raila Odinga. Speaking during a TV interview, Mudavadi said the Kibra by-election shouldn’t be made to be a political battle between top leaders, pitting Raila Odinga and other leaders, “It’s a by-election, remember Musalia Mudavadi is not on the ballot, neither is Raila Odinga in the ballot.”
He said Kibra residents need representation, good representation that will work for their needs and not a leader who will work for a political party leader. The by-election is set to be held on November 7th. Moreover, the Jubilee party has settled on former football star McDonald Mariga as its candidate for the seat.
Mudavadi has also affirmed that NASA isn’t dead, even after the handshake which changed Kenya’s political scene. He revealed that for the coalition to be terminated, at least three parties subscribed to NASA will have to formally exit. He said the leaders in the coalition have held informal meetings, where different matters have been discussed including a reorganization of NASA.
