The Central Bank of Kenya has released Kshs 7.4 billion towards supporting the national government’s efforts to tackle the spread of the Coronavirus. So far, Kenya has recorded eight cases of the Covid-19.
Speaking at State House Nairobi, CBK Governor Dr. Patrick Njoroge said the money was collected after the mop up of the old Kshs 1000 notes. The move is among several other decisions meant to cushion Kenyans as the country faces up to the reality of an economic shake up brought about by the Coronavirus.
President Uhuru Kenyatta announced that Kshs 1 billion has been released by the government for hiring more health workers needed to increase the country’s capacity to deal with the Coronavirus pandemic.
