Businesses came to a standstill in Kapsabet town and its environs following the announcement by IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati of the President elect Dr. William Ruto at the Bomas of Kenya.
Nandi residents from across the six constituencies took to the streets to celebrate Ruto’s victory, an opportunity they have been awaiting since the time they cast their votes.
A section of those who spoke to the Media in Kapsabet town during the celebrations cited their happiness to have elected a President that is going to restore the country’s economy which has been ailing for years making life difficult for many Kenyans.
“We thank God for this far. This is the day that the Lord has made; we will be glad and rejoice in him. Indeed God is good and has heard our prayers.” They affirmed.
They lauded the efforts by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission under its Chair Wafula Chebukati for conducting free, fair and credible elections for the first time in history.
