The Central Rift Athletics Kenya region has now a team of 25 athletes who will join the team identified last year during the national pre-trials for the World under 20 championships slated for August 2021.
Addressing journalists in Kapsabet town, the Central rift Athletics Kenya chair Mr Abraham Mutai said the team will be participating in the coming championships at Moi International Sports Center Kasarani slated for August.
During the trials held at Eliud Kipchoge sports complex in Kapsabet, Winnie Cheruto from Uasin Gishu won the 1500 M women’s category and Stephen Masindet from the same county taking the lead in Men’s category.
Brenda Chepchumba and Emmanuel Kiplagat both from Baringo County won the Women’s and Men’s 5000 M category while Sylivia Chelagat and Emmanuel Wanyonyi from Nandi took the lead in 400 M Men’s and Women category respectively.
Sharon Jepng’etich from Uasin Gishu and Peter Kipruto from Baringo became winners of the 800 M race while Sylivia Chelagat and Willis Obunga from Nandi emerged winners of 100 M Women and Men’s category.
In 3000 M steeple chase, Jackline Chepkoech from Uasin Gishu won the women’s category while Amos Serem from the same county won the men’s category respectively.
