Police officers in Nandi South District in partnership with the administration, community policing and members of Nyumba Kumi initiative have nabbed hundred litres of pure chang’aa at Kambogi in Kapseng’ere Terik ward.
One of the senior police officers from Nandi south Saenyi Telewa who spoke to the media said the chang’aa was ferried from Western to Nandi by a middle-aged man before he was caught at the region’s border.
He said the man claimed that he was not the owner of the illicit brew but he had been hired to transport it to Nandi. The chang’aa was loaded in five buckets of twenty litres each and was nabbed by the community policing team at Kapseng’ere whom in turn informed the police.
The suspect is being held at Kobujoi police station awaiting to be arraigned in court tomorrow. There has been a crackdown of illicit brewing by the security team in Nandi in a bid to end the culture which has been affecting various development issues in the region.
