Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has urged Sirisia MP John Waluke to stop his wishful thinking that residents of Changara Location in Teso North can relocate to Bungoma County.
Addressing the press in Busia, Ojaamong said Waluke is trying to incite the Teso community by trying to invoke the district and provincial act and the colonial boundaries.
The Governor said Waluke was quoted on social media inviting residents of Changara Location to relocate to his Sirisia Constituency in Bungoma County.
“Waluke’s politics has been overtaken by events. He cannot force residents of Teso North Sub County to relocate to Bungoma. We shall resist such attempts,” he said.
Teso North MP Arthur Odera has revealed that the Senate committee will tour the area to find out whether the residents want the status quo or to be relocated to Bungoma.
Speaking when he hosted Deputy President William Ruto in Amagoro recently, Odera narrated how only 28 people from the location petitioned the Senate to have the location moved to Bungoma County.
“In a bid to defuse the mounting tension in the area we also sought the signatures of 1450 residents to petition the Senate demanding to remain in Busia County.
The Senate is set to tour the Location for public hearings. I know what Changara people want and we shall not go anywhere come rain or sunshine,” the MP said.
Odera said they want to live in peace and “We shall not surrender any inch of our land to Bungoma as demanded by a few residents of the area.”
