Bungoma County assembly has instituted changes in its leadership as the majority side unanimously elected Tuuti/Marakaru ward MCA Joseph Juma Nyongesa as the majority leader replacing Maeni ward MCA Florence Wekesa.He will be deputized by Tongaren ward MCA Manase Tindi as Mukuyuni ward MCA Meshack Wekesa takes on the powerful Majority whip position to be deputised by Bungoma township ward MCA Joseph Maguda.
Bungoma County assembly Speaker Emmanuel Situma said his role is to preside over the business of the house saying he should not be dragged in the party affiliations since he is committed to his work.In his acceptance speech Nyongesa said the loopholes in the previous regime were that they sided too much with the executive at the expense of the common mwananchi saying he will ensure that their primary mandate of oversight will not be compromised.
He said the executive must ensure that they deliver to the residents accordingly saying as tax payers they have a right to access better services from the leaders they voted in. Nyongesa touted changes in the several committee leadership in the house saying they have to put like minded people to steer the peoples agenda forward. His sentiments were echoed by Ndivisi ward MCA Martin Wanyonyi who said they are now in full support of the installed leadership saying they are now focusing on improving services.
