Supporters of Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati and those allied to Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and Senate speaker Ken Lusaka clashed at the funeral of the late mama Jane Wachiye who was until then the Maendeleo ya Wanawake chair in Bungoma County.
Initially things turned chaotic when Musikoma ward MCA George Makari accused the County leadership of engaging in corruption claiming the Governor and his deputy were on the forefront. Being a health committee chair in the assembly he said the duo had misused the Covid-19 funds an issue that made youths interrupt his speech.
Later when the deputy Governor took to the podium he said Senator Wetangula was misleading them saying in 2017 he had claimed that Lusaka was not fit for office yet now they are traversing the County together. It took the intervention of the police to calm down the youths as the church leaders sought to take away the body for burial leaving the politicians to finish up their speeches.
Senator Wetangula accused the Bungoma Governor of failing to deliver on his promises that include revival and starting up industries. Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga called upon politicians to act with sobriety during funeral ceremonies.
