Popular comedian Charles Bukeko, popularly known as Papa Shirandula is dead. Bukeko passed away on Saturday morning at the Karen hospital in Nairobi after a short illness.
The actor was famed for his role in the show Papa Shirandula which has graced the prime time TV slot for years now, endearing himself to many Kenyans in the process.
Kenyans led by President Uhuru Kenyatta have mourned his demise. President Kenyatta has condoled with Bukeko’s family, saying he was a gifted storyteller whose contribution to the development of Kenya’s entertainment sector will be cherished forever. Deputy President William Ruto said Bukeko was a towering, talented and skillful actor, “His electrifying and distinctive performances will continue to enlighten and inspire many generations.”
On his part, Kakamega Governor and the Council of Governors chairman Wycliffe Oparanya the comedy industry has been robbed of an iconic figure whose comedy was entertaining and educative.
