Chesumei MP Wilson Kogo has asked the government to consider the safety of teachers in schools by providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs). Speaking during the inspection of projects in his constituency, he said teachers are at risk of Covid-19 infection and they should be given protective gear.
He warned that schools are not safe and secure for the children as many institutions have not met the Ministry of Health’s directives to combat the spread of the virus, and the reopening shouldn’t have bene rushed.
He said there is a lot of congestion and poor hygiene in schools that could put the lives of students at risk. He said the lack of funds means many schools aren’t ready to tackle the virus spread, and that the government should’ve created more classrooms to accommodate all students, facilitating social distancing in the process.
