Chevaywa Technical Training Institute in Lugari will be converted into an agricultural based learning institute.
According to the Lugari MP Ayub Savula the decision was reached after it was established that the neighbouring Maturu National Polytechnic offers general technical courses and therefore turning Chevaywa TTI to an agricultural institution will give more value to the residents of Lugari and the neighbouring constituencies.
Savula said Bukura Agricultural College has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the management of Chevaywa TTI on how they will collaborate with the institution.
He said farmers within Lugari will also benefit from free agricultural training and other short courses as Bukura College nurtures the newly established training Institute.
The MP said he had set aside Kshs 4 million from the National Government Constituency Development Funds kitty to pay fee for the first cohort of students who will join the institute.
