The Cholera outbreak in Vihiga County is under control according to the County Director of Health Mr Quido Ahinduka. He said the affected areas were Bugina and Chango in Vihiga Sub County.
He said the two who lost their lives were among a group of people who went to attend the wedding of a relative in Nairobi. He said the bodies were well treated and preserved at Vihiga County Referral Hospital Mortuary to avoid any other outbreak when they are released for burial.
Ahinduka said he has deployed Public Health Officers in the affected areas to caution residents how to handle themselves. “The officers deployed in the affected areas and across the County have done a tremendous job, the situation now under control,” said Ahinduka.
He said residents have been advised to report any case related to the outbreak immediately to the officers in the field. “We are very alert and all residents have been urged to pass on information regarding the outbreak, but we are optimistic the situation is now under control,” Ahinduka said.
