Kiminini MP Dr. Chris Wamalwa has once again appealed to the leadership of Ford Kenya to make sure they give tickets to those aspirants who are popular on the ground and avoid the mistake of giving tickets to candidates who are unpopular. Wamalwa said this during the launch of a 52 seater bus at St Theresa’s Sikhendu Secondary school in his constituency. He said in the past several aspirants were favored and given tickets even though they weren’t popular on the ground, and this led to the party losing ground to other parties in the general elections.
He appealed to the Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula and Secretary General of the party, who is also Tongaren MP, Dr. Eseli Simiyu to make sure that all the aspirants who will contest on a Ford Kenya ticket are accorded respect and that the elections are held in a transparent, free, and fair manner. Concerning the allegations that he is planning to defect to the Jubilee party, the legislator insisted he remains a member of Ford Kenya and he will contest for the party leadership post from within the party, saying those who have linked him with the Jubilee party are day dreaming.
He, however, said he has not personally declared that he wants to contest for the gubernatorial seat in the county, but some people from the county have approached him to contest for the seat. He said he is still contemplating and thinking about the proposal and promised to come up with a final decision soon.
He criticized Governor Khaemba, saying the Governor has done little to alleviate poverty that has gripped the residents of the County, saying the County won’t stand to be ranked number 47 out of the 47 counties in Kenya each year. He also criticized the County chief over stalled projects that he initiated including the Rabbit project, and he said taxpayers’ money has been poorly spent.
On the IEBC issue, the MP criticized the President for taking long to assent to the bill entailing the selection and immediate functioning of the body, while expressing fear that the President was buying time to ensure he remains in office after his term ends, adding that the Parliament’s stipulated time might be extended to December, yet elections should be held on August according to the Constitution. He said this nation isn’t ready for the postponement of the next General elections and appealed to the president to make haste in signing the bill.
The legislator refuted claims that the Ford Kenya party wasn’t serious on its quest for the top post arguing that the party leader Moses Wetangula was determined and will contest for the leadership of this country come 2017.
On his part nominated MP Patrick Wangamati disclosed that Ford Kenya party, under its party leader Moses Wetangula, will part ways with CORD if Raila Odinga doesn’t support Moses Wetangula, adding that he will advise Wetangula to contest for the presidential seat. Wangamati, however, appealed for party unity saying the disputes in the party have passed the wrong message about the party, especially the wrangles that have witnessed between groups supporting Dr. Chris Wamalwa and Governor Khaemba.
Sikhendu MCA Andrew Kutitila, said there are wrangles in county assembly of Trans Nzoia, emanating from party members of the Jubilee party disclosing that there is a plot by URP Party MCAS to front a motion in the assembly to oust the majority leaders who was elected on New Ford Kenya Party ticket Alfred Weswa.
