As election approaches, security becomes a key thing and everyone is supposed to be involved to make sure that areas they come from are peaceful.
Speaking during the security meeting at Matulo Friends Church, Webuye West Sub County Commissioner Mr. Edonga Nanok urged residents of Webuye West and their neighbors to cooperate with the security operatives in the Sub County to reveal individuals or group of people who could cause violence during this campaign and election season.
He appealed to youths to be in the forefront by preaching peace as in the past they have been used wrongly by some politicians to disrupt peace and said this time round youths have been sensitized on matters peace and will not be used anymore but he however pointed out that some are taking advantage of campaign to steal other people’s property and said they are keen and if any will be identified then the law will take its course.
Nanok also advised politicians to stop night campaigns that have contributed a lot to banditry and insecurity and that anyone that will be spotted holding meetings at night maybe disqualified because he or she will be breaching the law.
He has appealed to residents to reveal gangs that could be harassing and stealing property of innocent people.
“We can only assist if we know the people causing insecurity and this can only be achieved by residents giving us information and I promise as the chairman of peace in the Sub County your information will be handled with confidentiality that it deserves and no messenger will be revealed at any cost, ” said the Sub County Commissioner.
He cautioned some politicians who use uncouth language that may cause violence and said their days are numbered and that they should engage in such outside Webuye West Sub County.
