Civil servants seeking elective seats to resign by 9th Feb- Court of Appeal rules

Civil servants who want to vie in the August 9 General Election have until tomorrow (Wednesday 9) to resign from their jobs.

This comes after the Court of Appeal on Tuesday 8^th Feb overturned the Employment and Labour Relations Court ruling that it was discriminatory to require public servants to resign.

In a ruling delivered by Lady Justice Monica Mbaru of the Employment and Labour Relations Court on 6^th Feb, IEBC was stopped from disqualifying public servants eyeing political seats if they would not have resigned by then.

Civil servants who have resigned so far are; Devolution CS Charles Keter who is going to vie for Kericho Gubernatorial seat, , Petroleum CS John Munyes vying for Turkana County Governor, Water PS Joseph Irungu to vie for Murang’a County Governor seat.
