Government officials have been cautioned against engaging in corrupt deals when rendering service to the members of the public.
Speaking at Matete grounds in Matete Sub County, Chevaywa location when he graced installation of four chiefs and five assistant chiefs, Kakamega County Commissioner John Ondego warned that corruption will not be tolerated within government offices.
He called on the Departmental Heads, County Directors from various Ministries and Agencies to spearhead the fight against corruption in the County.
He said the government has put in place several measures aimed at fighting corruption saying he will lead a team to crack down on the blatant corruption that has long plagued various government offices in a bold step to ensure that Kakamega is corruption-free.
He warned the civil servants that personal enrichment and aggrandizement would not be tolerated; instead, they should work with transparency to serve Kenyans.
“I’m sending a warning to all civil servants in Kakamega to desist from corruption. I also ask members of the public not to attempt bribing government officers to get services that are free. We need this kind of unity to make Kakamega corruption-free County,” stressed Ondego.
He urged the newly installed administrators to serve the public without biasness.
