On Friday last week good Samaritans rushed one girl aged between 8 and 10 at Webuye county hospital after she was involved in an accident at Sango area near Nzoia River Bridge and the vehicle sped off though luckily number plates were identified.
According to Dr. Chrisantos Wanjala who is in charge of the young girl at Webuye hospital says she out of danger though she is still unconscious and her hand is broken and she can’t be identified as no one has ever come to the hospital to ask of her where about and the good Samaritans left and have never been seen up to now and the medics have failed to do more medication as they need her health background.
“This girl is about 8-10 years and was brought here on Friday after she was involved in an accident but up to now as we speak no one has ever come to see her or ask about her and as a hospital we have done our best and she is out of danger though she has not regained her consciousness and we need to do more treatment but unfortunately we don’t have her medication records, she was badly injured but we have arrested the situation though medical record to any patient is very important because some patients can be given drugs that don’t work well with the body and can end causing more problems ,”said Dr. Wanjala.
He adds that it has become a norm for some families to abandon their relatives in the hospital sometimes due to hard economic moments where they cannot afford to foot the bill especially if patients are involved in an accident, something he says affects their work as they lack medical knowledge and background of the patients and fail to provide proper services required by the patients.
Mr. Wanjala has encouraged the citizens across the country to try as much as possible to have NHIF cards that will help them get medication even at times when they don’t have money to pay medical bills saying Webuye county hospital is one of the best hospitals around with proper services.
“To avoid running away from your relatives due to being unable to pay the bill, family members should get registered as NHIF beneficiaries as that will help them get services better even at hard economic times at any hospital that offers NHIF services within your reach, “he suggested
He has now appealed to members of the larger Webuye community plus other neighbourhood who have lost their loved one to visit the hospital and identify the girl who is in severe pain, adding that she needs further medication which requires family member to be available.
He has also called upon the police to speed up investigation over the accident given that they know the number plate of the car that caused the accident so the culprit can be arrested and help in the paying of medical bills.
