Community benefit from Kanduyi WhatsApp group
Street children, residents of Ekitale in Bungoma and neighbouring people were treated to a special occasion organised by one of the social media groups Kanduyi constituency WhatsApp group.
The children were all smiles after treated to a lunch date of its kind.
They received donations that comprised of clothes, food, toys to make them feel comfortable in the society around them.
Speaking to West Media, the CEO of the Kanduyi constituency group Edduh Wamalwa Simiyu was a happy man after organizing the event that was a success.
He said among the services that were offered were treating residents of Ekitale infected with jiggers, voter registration exercise to those who missed out, NHIF sensitization, free eye and teeth medical check up.
In the exercise they managed to treat 287 members from Ekitale infected with jiggers, registered 11 residents as new voters as 13 of the members managed to transfer their votes to other regions.
The NHIF officers were on ground and offered wide knowledge on the importance of registering and some of the residents who had no knowledge of the scheme.
He said through working closely with his members has enabled them achieve their goals as a social group promising to work on great projects that will benefit the community as a whole.
The chairman red cross Bungoma branch Amin Sheikh said they have been working closely with lesser people in society and networking has greatly helped them achieve some of their goals.
Members of the KC team who spoke with us revealed their pride in the group how it has enabled them interact; make friends and some getting employment through connections from friends.
The group leader of the street children was happy and thanked the group in abundance while hoping to benefit from them more in the near future.
