CORD leader Raila Odinga has reiterated that there will be no stealing of elections in this year’s general elections. In a meeting that brought together opposition leaders at Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi, Raila Odinga said they shall make it impossible for anyone to steal votes, “We must protect the votes on the voting day,” he added. He said stealing votes will lead to dire consequences. The opposition leaders, who included CORD co-principals Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, came together as they forged a united front against Jubilee.
The CORD leader was keen to rally eligible voters who haven’t registered to do so, with the mass voter registration set to kick off on 16th January. “We must ensure that people vote on the voting day,” he said. He said they will mobilize all eligible voters to vote, “We must know how many people live around a polling station and ensure they vote,” he said. Concerning the election laws, he said, “We will deal with the election laws, but we must all go out and ensure everyone registers as a voter.”
Raila Odinga assured that the nominations will be free and fair, adding that those who lose will find positions elsewhere, “To those who lose in nominations we still need you. We will be in government and we will have something for you,” he said.
