Coronavirus cases have risen to 20,636, after 723 people tested positive in the past 24 hours. The number highlights the sharp increase in positive cases in Kenya, with the number expected to be well past 21,000 by Sunday night. The new cases were recorded from a sample size of 8679. 700 are Kenyans while 23 are foreigners.
44 more patients have recovered, 24 from home based care and 20 from different hospitals, with recoveries now at 8,165. However, 16 patients have succumbed to the virus, with fatalities now at 341.
Nairobi has the highest number of new cases, with 436, followed by Nakuru with 83 cases. Mombasa has 48 cases, Kiambu has 45, Turkana has 12, Uasin Gishu has 10 cases, Machakos has 9 cases, Kajiado has 9 cases. Busia County has 8 cases, Murang’a has 7 cases, Kericho has 7 cases, Kisumu has 6 cases. Baringo County has 5 cases, Bomet has 5 cases, Garissa, Kwale, Nyeri, and Siaya have 3 cases each.
Isiolo, Kakamega, Lamu, Meru, Wajir, Taita Taveta, Tana River and Vihiga Counties have 2 cases each. Nyandarua, Elgeyo Marakwet, Makueni, Marsabit and Kilifi Counties have 1 case each.
