Women and youth groups have received shs 1.5m from a council of Chairpersons of State Corporations in the country to enable them boost their businesses and projects they undertake.

Speaking during an Insurance and Economic Empowerment Fair function that brought together different women and youth groups across Bungoma County held at Posta ground in Kanduyi Constituency, Bungoma County, Insurance Regulatory Authority Chairperson Mwambu Mabonga said the importance of the function was to empower Bungoma residents and help them get information on what they do as chairpersons in their different departments under the Kenya Kwanza government.

He stated that President Ruto has good plans for Bungoma residents therefore urged them to support his government as he cited the Hustler Fund, youth enterprise fund and women enterprise fund all meant to empower them.

He said as a council they decided to come together to enlighten and sensitize Kenyans on government plans, programs and how they can get help in government agencies.

Mwambu said by being appointed by the President as IRA Chair he prides in the Bungoma people and wants to use his position to enlighten and empower  them during his term in office.

He urged elected leaders to work together, come up with empowerment programs that will promote the less fortunate in society, women and youth and stop indecisive politics.

He told residents not to accept to be used by politicians but demand for what is theirs since it is their right.

Kenya Forest Service Chair, Job Chirchir defended President on lifting ban on logging that was imposed in 2018 saying Kenya has 2.5m hectares of forest, the government only  wants to harvest 50,000 hectares every year and this means it will take 35 years to finish, so the exercise is rotational, renewable and sustainable therefore slammed at LSK for moving to court to stop the lift by the President saying as the government they have plans to plant all forests that were harvested but not planted through shamba system.

KFS Chair said as a government there is no way they will leave trees to rot in forests and import soft woods from Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania and Uganda which is so expensive in Kenya due to refusal to cut down trees as a result of wayward activism that has taken route saying harvesting will continue.

KEMSA Chair said in the last year’s budget they distributed drugs worth 90m last year in Bungoma County and promised to increase to shs 200m this year as he cited commitment of Kenya Kwanza government to ensure that its people have better health care.

He promised to paint Bungoma Referral hospital to change its image as he revealed to partner with Bungoma County in campaigns of deworming, TB, Malaria, Family Planning in collaboration with the Ministry of Health. He said they will distribute lab equipment for patients to be tested before administering treatment.

Kenya Water Towers Agency Chair Rashid Echesa thanked IRA Chair Mwambu Mabonga  for hosting such an empowerment program to meet the needs of Bungoma women and youths.

He promised to donate 1000 polythene bags to women groups through his fellow chairman Mwambu Mabonga saying he will bring them seedlings from KEFRI so that they plant in their homes and later buy them at a good price.

The Chairperson of Lake Victoria South Development Authority Agency Oyodo Owidi said no Kenyan will lack clean water to use in homes and farms for irrigation after 5 years since it is part of the plan of Kenya Kwanza adding that every Kenyan needs  to work on their environment and control by planting trees.

Masinde Muliro University Chairperson Dr. Pamela encouraged parents to prioritize the education of their children saying no child should miss out on school due to the poverty level in their family since Kenya Kwanza has begun an education model program  where children from humble backgrounds are paid full school fees  for their University education.

The Council has plans to move across the country for empowerment programs and ensure that the Kenya Kwanza agenda is fully implemented and all Kenyans benefit from their government. Last week the Council was in Murang’a County.
