County Governments have been urged to invest in cancer treatment equipment in order to tackle the rising cancer cases. Speaking during the burial of the late Florence Khaemba at Kiminini in Trans Nzoia, Speaker Lusaka also urged Counties to employ qualified doctors who can handle and manage the cases.
Lusaka however called upon all the Governors in the country to utilize funds allocated by the government well, warning of dire consequences for Governors who’ll end up embezzling the funds.
Concerning the issue of revenue allocation to Counties, which is being discussed in the Senate, Lusaka appealed to Kenyans to give Senators the time to discharge their duties. He said the fronted proposals having already raised temperatures in the Senate. On Monday, the Senate adjourned the debate, with Senators still divided on the matter.
On her part, Trans Nzoia County woman representative Janet Nangabo appealed to leaders in the Senate, national assembly
and party leaders to desist from politicizing the motion and instead let reason prevail. Nangabo claimed that some leaders have taken advantage of the motion in the Senate and they are engaging in wars which aren’t beneficial for residents.
Kiminini MP Dr. Chris Wamalwa appealed to the Senators to make sure they debate the motion
before them exhaustively without hiding some cards under the table. He said some leaders are taking advantage of the situation by pulling back the development needed for the Counties.
