Vihiga County government has resumed the construction of the multi-million mortuary after approvals from the National Construction Authority.
The NCA had been called in after the collapse to access the cause of the collapse but has since given the project a clean bill of health according to Govenor Wilber Ottichilo.
“We have resumed construction and this is after we met the requirements set by NCA and corrected some of the mistake that led to the collapse of the gate in 2021,” he said.
Governor Ottichilo assured locals of the completion of the project before the end of his first tenure.
“The kind of traffic at our old mortuary made us to set up this facility that will hold over 100 bodies up from the 40 bodies the old morgue accommodates,” he said.
