The Court of Appeal has suspended a High Court decision directing the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to allow the use of manual voter registers in polling stations during the August 9th polls.
The judges issued the orders on Monday pending the hearing and determination of a petition filed by the Deputy President-led UDA party.
They stated that the electoral body will use the directions in the case by NASA in 2017 where the court ordered that IEBC to use the printed register of voters only in instances where the KIEMS kits completely fail with no possibility of repair or replacement.
They said they gave the above ruling in a short form due to the urgency of the matter and the fact that the General Elections are scheduled to be held tomorrow on 9th August, 2022 therefore, the reasons for the ruling shall be rendered on 28th August, 2022.
