The Ministry of Health has confirmed 497 new cases of the Coronavirus, from a sample size of 4,888 tested in the last 24 hours, with cumulative tests conducted at 632,699. Kenya’s total positive cases are now at 46,144. All the new cases are Kenyans except 26 foreigners, with 295 males and 202 females. The youngest is a 1-year-old child and the oldest is 88-years-old.
However, 16 patients have succumbed to the virus within the last day, taking Kenya’s Covid-19 deaths to 858. 238 patients have been discharged, taking the total recoveries to 32,760. Out of this, 170 were discharged from the home-based care program, while 68 were released from various health facilities.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Health Ministry said the number of patients on supplemental oxygen is 41, while 27 patients are in Intensive Care Unit. 1,189 patients are admitted in hospitals, while 2,661 are under the home-based care program.
Distribution of the cases by Counties is as follows; Nairobi 227, Machakos 64, Mombasa 51, Uasin Gishu 37, Laikipia 28, Busia 19, Kajiado 11, Embu 10, Nakuru 9, Wajir 7, Kiambu and Kilifi 6, Kisumu 4, Nyeri 4, Makueni 3, while Elgeyo Marakwet, Meru, Kisii, and Turkana have 2 cases each, Narok, Homabay and Kakamega have 1 case each.
